Civil Rights
Police Misconduct
We represent victims of law enforcement misconduct in cases of excessive force, wrongful death, illegal search, false arrest, malicious prosecution, and discrimination.
Because of our prior experience defending law enforcement cases, we understand police procedures and documents and leverage that knowledge to get justice for our clients.
Prisoners’ Rights
We recognize that prisoners are among society’s most vulnerable populations. We represent incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals who have been mistreated, beaten, sexually assaulted, denied medical care, or otherwise had their constitutional rights violated while in the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, New York City Department of Correction, and local jails.
Our deep knowledge of prison rules, agency regulations, and correction officer training helps us to fight for our clients.
Discrimination
Federal, State, and Local laws prohibit discrimination based on age, race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, sex, marital status, or disability in areas including employment, housing, education, credit, and access to public accommodations. We stand up for victims of unlawful discrimination.
How do we charge for our Civil Rights services?
Generally, if we are successful in obtaining money for you (either in a settlement or a jury verdict), our fee will be taken out of the money awarded. Otherwise, you do not have to pay attorneys’ fees. We will discuss with you how payment works before you choose to hire us.
